I’m a Published Author!
I could get emotional here, but I’ve already cried enough. I cried when I was querying for agents because the rejection hurt so much. I cried on the phone when my agent offered representation. I cried again—twenty months after we went on sub to publishing houses—when she told me Simon & Schuster wanted to buy my book. I cried when my favorite authors agreed to blurb Soulmatch, and when I found out the American Booksellers Association named it an Indie Next pick. I cried when I read the Soulmatch acknowledgements to my family.
I cried through one of the most challenging years of my life… by far.
That’s enough of that. LET’S CELEBRATE!!!
Launch Party!
If you’re in the Northern Virginia area, come by Fleetwood Farm Winery tonight at 6:30pm! This all-ages event will feature snacks, beverages, dessert, an aura reader, and a conversation between me and my friend, Constance Sayers—author of A Witch in Time, The Ladies and the Secret Circus, and The Star and the Strange Moon. Our books will be available for sale at the event! Dress is casual, but wear red and/or white (like the main character of Soulmatch!).
Book Signings
Can’t make it tonight? I have a signing in Fairfax on 8/1, Nashville on 8/2, Alexandria, on 8/10, Glen Allen on 8/16, Ashburn on 8/17, and the Cleveland area on 8/22. Check my events page for dates and details!
How you can help!
Soulmatch may now be published, but in many ways this is just the beginning. Its success depends on getting it into readers’ hands! Here are some easy and no-cost ways you can help!
Leave a review! I can’t overstate the importance of reviews, especially Amazon reviews. Amazon doesn’t allow reviews until launch day, so pretty, pretty please (yes, I’m begging), once you’ve finished reading, leave a review!! Other places you can review: Goodreads, StoryGraph, Barnes & Noble, and Indigo (Canadian bookseller).
Request Soulmatch on the Libby app (if you use Libby). It only takes five seconds! Search for Soulmatch and click “Notify Me” beside both the audiobook and ebook. Repeat for each library you have a card to!
Suggest Soulmatch to your bookclub. Yes, I’d love to Zoom with your group! Send me a DM to see if we can coordinate a date! There’s a list of spoiler-free discussion questions here.
Ask your local bookseller to carry Soulmatch. Since my book is IndieNext (a title bestowed by independent booksellers), they may have already heard about it!
Post about Soulmatch on your socials. In addition to your personal page, you could share to groups you belong to, especially reader groups and ones with members in NoVA/DC/MD, where Soulmatch primarily takes place. Here are a few graphics you can use, or snap a photo of your copy to share.
Soulmatch sightings
If you spot Soulmatch in the wild, like in the below pic at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles (look at her company!), please send it to me! Or tag me in your post! I’d love to keep an album of Soulmatch sightings across the country and create a map!
THANK YOU!
In one of my pre-launch interviews, I was asked how I was feeling leading up to my debut, and I stand by my answer. Gratitude. So much gratitude.
So much of publishing depends on OTHER PEOPLE - to keep you going, to offer advice, to take a chance on you, to find the typos, and schedule interviews, and order books, and ship them out, and talk about your book, and sign up for your newseletter. It’s astonishing to sit and think about, really.
So thank you. If you’re reading this, you have already helped me. You’re here. AND WE FLIPPING DID IT!!
WOo HOOOOOOO!!!!
Oh, and if you haven’t yet, please order my book!! Thanks, byeeeeee!!!!
